All Things Made New
Creating a New Beginning with God
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
2 Corinthians 5:17 (ESV)
This passage tells us that when we give our lives to Christ, he doesn't just forgive us of our past mistakes and make us brand new people. He gives us the strength and courage to leave behind old habits and start fresh.
When considering the prospect of a new year, we often think about making resolutions—things we want to change about ourselves. But what if we resolve this year to let God create a new beginning for us instead?
Whether you feel stuck in a cycle of sin or like you're just going through the motions of your faith, there’s good news! The prophet Isaiah (43:18-19) tells us,
Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.
God wants to do something new in our lives—to free us from the things that hold us back and lead us down a path of redemption and renewal. But we must let go of our past and trust God's plan.
As we enter this new year, let's lay down any burdens or baggage from our past and allow God to create a new beginning for us. It is often said that God is faithful and just. What is sometimes forgotten is that He desires to give us new life in him. May we experience the joy and freedom of being a new creation in Christ, now and always!
All Things Made New - New Day | It is so easy to be discouraged when we continually mess up and fall short of God's perfection. But - just as the sun rises each morning - so does God's mercy. Each day we have new opportunities for grace.
